Welcoming Communities: Quilts Made with Love

By Marisa Tesoro

Last week we had the pleasure of meeting Jane and Dean Talley.

The couple reached out to Paul in May: They had three quilts they wanted to donate. With love in every stitch and sewn in community with others, they wanted to pass them along to newcomer families and give them a little piece of home.

So they paid us a visit and dropped off beautiful, handmade quilts for Ukrainian families.

Then Dmytro, a member of our team, delivered the quilts to families in and around St. Louis.

Upon his arrival, Dmytro and his family connected with other Ukrainian families in a Telegram group with more than 200 members. Through this group, he learned of families who might need these quilts: a mother of two in Maryland Heights, a mother of 4 in Hazelwood, another mother of two in West Plains, Missouri.

We’re so grateful for Jane and Dean Talley’s generosity, thoughtfulness, and welcoming spirit, helping to foster hope away from home.
