Temporary Protected Status Extension and Redesignation for Venezuela

Temporary Protected Status Extension and Redesignation for Venezuela:

During this engagement, USCIS will provide an overview of the extension and redesignation of Venezuela for TPS followed by a question-and-answer session. They will not address case-specific questions, questions outside the scope of the engagement, or issues under active litigation.

On Sept. 20, 2023, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas announced the extension of TPS for Venezuela for 18 months, from March 11, 2024, to Sept. 10, 2025. Existing beneficiaries of TPS for Venezuela seeking to avoid gaps in their employment authorization may re-register during the 60-day re-registration period that runs from Jan. 10, 2024, through March 10, 2024.

Secretary Mayorkas also announced a separate redesignation of Venezuela for TPS for 18 months, from Oct. 3, 2023, through April 2, 2025. The redesignation allows Venezuelan nationals (and individuals having no nationality who last habitually resided in Venezuela) who have continuously resided in the United States since July 31, 2023, and been continuously physically present in the United States since Oct. 3, 2023, to file initial applications for TPS, if they are otherwise eligible.

Registration is not required. Please use Microsoft Teams to join the engagement.
